Urgent need for regulation of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in surface and groundwater
Dear Presidency, dear Permanent Representatives to the EU,
PAN Europe is writing to you ahead of the interinstitutional technical meeting on 15 September 2025, to urge the incorporation of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) into the “sum of 24 PFAS” Environmental Quality Standards (EQS) for surface water and groundwater, as explicitly recommended by the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER).

The EU weakens the rules that safeguard people and the environment
470 civil society, trade unions and public interest groups tell President von der Leyen, European Commissioners and EU Member States that our rights, planet, health and justice are not for sale.

PAN Europe’s feedback to European Commission’s Public Consultation “Export and import of hazardous chemicals”
PAN Europe would like to use this feedback opportunity to raise its concerns on the export of pesticides that have been banned for use in Europe because they can cause serious harm to human health, wildlife and biodiversity, or contaminate water resources. It remains unacceptable for the EU to continue permitting European companies to export pesticides after these are banned in Europe because they are considered too hazardous for use within its own territory.

Swift and ambitious actions needed for the update of EU water pollution standards
Dear Ambassador Søren Jacobsen,
We, the undersigned representatives of environmental and health civil society organisations, healthcare professionals, social partners, recreational fishing associations, and businesses relying on clean and healthy water, are writing to you, as Presidency chair, to urge the prompt adoption of the proposed new EU water pollution standards1 . With this letter, we are also expressing our deep concern about ongoing attempts to weaken and delay the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD).

Urgent Actions Needed for Sustainable Agriculture and Pesticide Regulation in the EU
Together wit Danish NGOs Rådet for Grøn Omstilling, Danmarks Naturfredningsforening, Dansk Ornitologisk Forening, Greenpeace Denmark, DANVA (Danish Water and Wastewater Association) we wrote to the Danish government to ask for support for decisive European actions on critical pesticide-related issues that directly impact public health, the environment, and the future of European agriculture during the Danish EU presidency.

EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCoPAFF); 9-10 July - position of Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Europe
Dear Members of the SCoPAFF committee,
On July 9th and 10th, you are invited to the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed to discuss and potentially adopt opinions on several European Commission proposals. Ahead of this meeting, we would like to share PAN Europe's position on key issues concerning human health and environmental protection from pesticides. We kindly request that you give these matters your careful attention.

Uphold your promise to end the export of EU-banned pesticides
Dear Commission President von der Leyen,
We, the undersigned civil society organisations, write to you to share the attached statement signed by 600 civil society organisations, trade unions, and farmers’ groups across the globe. Together we call on the European Commission to finally act to end the production and export of toxic pesticides banned for use in the EU, as well as the import of food grown with these dangerous chemicals.

NGOs AND TRADE UNIONS DEMAND THE END OF EU’S PRODUCTION, EXPORT AND IMPORT OF BANNED PESTICIDES
The EU has banned the use of a number of pesticides found to do serious damage to human health and the environment.
However, companies remain free to manufacture these hazardous pesticides in the EU for export to other countries with weaker regulations, putting human health and the environment at risk. The EU also allows the import of food and agricultural goods grown with pesticides banned on its own fields, exposing European consumers to cocktails of dangerous residues and creating unfair competition for European farmers.

Every life counts: European Union to stand as a global leader on the protection of human health and the environment from hazardous pesticides
Dear Chair of the Environment Council, Dear Environment Minister,
