Highly problematic proposal to deregulate genomic techniques in food and feed

Dear Minister,

In view of the next Presidency Council meeting on 10-11 December, where the Proposal for a Regulation on plants obtained by new genomic techniques (NGT) and their food and feed will be discussed, we would like to share our deep concerns with you. The current proposal is characterised by significant shortcomings regarding risk assessment, possible impacts on farmers, transparency and rights of producers, retailers, consumers and public authorities.

Approved herbicide pendimethalin is a PBT substance

Dear Mr Delgado Rosa,

With this letter we wish to highlight our concerns regarding the handling of the approval of the active substance pendimethalin by DG for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). We respectfully request DG for Environment (DG ENV) to intervene and help obtain the swift ban of this substance meeting the Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) criteria of the Pesticide Regulation (EC) 1107/2009.

Call upon Members of the European Parliament to support a Strong SUR at Plenary Vote, for the future of our farmers, citizens and biodiversity

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

We write to you in view of the plenary vote on the proposal for a Regulation on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides (SUR), on 22nd of November. The SUR is of very broad public interest, and can have far-reaching impacts on the well-being and welfare of current and future generations. Sustainable farming practices and a healthy environment are the essential foundation of a prosperous future for EU citizens, ecosystems and agricultural areas.

Leukämie-Risiko von Glyphosat: Bitte schützen Sie die Gesundheit der Bürgerinnen und Bürger durch die Ablehnung der Glyphosat-Wiedergenehmigung

Sehr geehrter Bundesgesundheitsminister Professor Lauterbach,

neuste Studienergebnisse weisen einen Zusammenhang von Glyphosat mit der Entstehung von Leukämie bereits in jungen Jahren nach. Mit diesem Brief möchten wir Sie daher eindringlich dazu auffordern, sich in Ihrer Fraktion gegen eine Wiedergenehmigung des Herbizidwirkstoffs Glyphosat auszusprechen und die Regierung darin zu bestärken, am 16. November 2023 gegen den Vorschlag der Kommission zu stimmen, Glyphosat für weitere zehn Jahre zu genehmigen.
