#STOPGlyphosate Week

Pesticide Action Network Europe (PAN Europe) invites you to the #STOPGlyphosate Week. Glyphosate poses a risk to our health and endangers biodiversity. The EU authorisation expires in December 2023 and the producers asked for a re-approval for many more years of destruction. Many negative effects of Glyphosate are still not widely known and we don’t need glyphosate. Safer and economically viable alternatives exist for all major uses. To highlight dangers and alternatives there will be a series of activities. Find below the full programme.

Events:

April 3 at 10:00: Launch of the Glyphosate Crowdfunding Campaign organised by the Stop Glyphosate Coalition and Pesticide Action Network Europe. The collected funds will help to better inform the public at the European and National levels and ensure that the tone of the debate is set by independent scientific research, not by industry-funded science.

April 11 at 09:30: Press Conference with special guest DeWayne Lee Johnson, a US gardener and living testimony of the harmfulness of glyphosate, the film Director Jennifer Baichwal and scientists experts in the topic at the Résidence Palace - International Press Centre, 155 Rue de la Loi, Passage Room.

April 11 at 13:00: Panel discussion hosted by the Greens in cooperation with PAN Europe: Alternatives to the use of Glyphosate live at the European Parliament (Room  A5E1) and online. The conference with farmers and representatives from the scientific community is hosted by the AGRI committee and Greens/EFA Group members Sarah Wiener & Benoit Biteau. (in English, German and French). You can already register via this link

April 12 at 18h30: PAN Europe and Think-Film invite you to the EU premiere of 'Into the Weeds' film with guest DeWayne Lee Johnson at UGC de Brouckère. The story of school groundskeeper DeWayne Lee Johnson and his landmark legal battle against chemical company Monsanto (now Bayer) sparked a worldwide reflection on the safety and environmental impact of weed-killing agent glyphosate. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with film protagonist DeWayne Johnson, Director Jennifer Baichwal, Carey Gillam (author, The Monsanto Papers), and other experts and policymakers.

April 13 at 19:00: Webinar Long-term health effects of childhood glyphosate exposure. Presentation of a long-term study examining possible links between glyphosate exposure and liver disease and metabolic disorders. Another field where glyphosate effects have not been thoroughly investigated by the authorities yet.
