
In response to specific regulatory decisions, PAN Europe retains the option of taking legal action.
In August 2008, PAN Europe launched a legal challenge to new EU legislation which will dramatically increase the levels of pesticides allowed in food items sold in the European Union. The case is ongoing.
In February 2004 we joined with other NGOs in contesting the EU authorisation of the highly toxic herbicide 'paraquat'. While the court ruled our challenge as 'inadmissible', our case was taken up and won by the Kingdom of Sweden. Authorisation for paraquat was duly reversed in 2007.
